Aquaria Beach Resort, Calatagan, Batangas

05.03.2014

Summer. Ang nag-iisang season sa Pinas. And yes! The summer heat is on! Ika nga sa Batangas, "Ano gang pag-ka-ka-banas!"

I am just lucky enough to be living here in Batangas. Since there are a lot of beaches in our province, there are so many places to choose from. Plus, its just one ride away.

So my officemate and I did some googling, and found the Aquaria Beach Resort in Calatagan.
We made some inquiries through their e-mail (customerrelations@landco.ph) regarding accommodation and reservation. And here are some details from our exchange of emails:

  1. Aquaria Resort is open from 9am-6pm Mondays to Fridays and 8am-8pm every weekend. It is closed every Tuesdays for maintenance.
  2. First-come-first-serve basis rule applies. So there’s no need for reservation (except for large events).
  3. There is no room accommodation/overnight stay for Aquaria since they operate on day-tour only.
  4. You can bring your own food with no extra charge.
  5. Food is not allowed in the pool cabanas. Eating is strictly confined to the dining area or the beach.
  6. Swimming attire is strictly implemented in the pool area. (nakakatawa `to kase the lifeguards points out those not wearing via megaphone)
See picture below for their rates.

And since we brought our own food, we stayed in the beachfront and rented tables and chairs (1 table, 4 chairs = 200Php). There are no cottages in the beach pero there are large shady trees kaya keri na den. Para kang nagpipicnic but at the beach!

The beach area:

I think our visit was just perfect because some says that the beach is not ideal for swimming on low tide kase grassy. Although yes, the bottom was very grassy, but still we are able to take plunge on the water. Just be watchful for small jellyfishes!

Lunch ala Boodle Fight!

After lunch we went to the pool area:

Have tried this GIGANTIC SLIDE! :D

And this ends our whole day experience in Aquaria.
Nice resort facilities, exciting beach activities and very accomodating staffs! Super saya and sulit. :) One of the best resorts I’ve been to.

Hoping that your visit will be fun as ours!

How to make vase out of recycled paper

What you need:
  1. Used papers
  2. Cardboard
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue
  5. Toothpick

Steps:
Place the paper into a flat surface and put the toothpick into the paper’s corner. Slowly roll the toothpick.
As the paper obtain the rolled form, remove the toothpick and put in glue to secure. *It is important to keep the rolled paper thin so that it will not be bulky when we make the vase.

Make as many strips as you can, if you wish your vase to be higher.

After making the rolled strips of paper, now its time to create the base. Just follow the pictures below and join them up using glue.

Fold the allowance on the side and place another cardboard on the top. And again place another paper with allowance to cover the cardboard.

The base should look like this.

Now, here comes the exciting and challenging part---the BODY. Flip the base on plain side (see picture), and start to fold the first strip along the side of the base.
Then, fold the second strip over the first, still following the side of the base as the pattern. Continue this pattern over the next strip and so on.

When you ran out of strips, simply insert another strip on the short one. Make sure you keep the folding of the strips firm and secured to avoid large holes on the vase.

After the several folds, you will notice a DNA shaped appearance like this.
If you feel that your vase is tall enough, you can end it by folding the strips outside and securing it by a glue.

TADAH! Your DNA shaped vase can now be used as an organizer. This is my first time to do this so its not that kinda good… haha… But nevertheless, its functional. ~Carpe diem!
